ChatGPT Atlas Browser

OpenAI  now has a web browser that launched October 21, 2025. This browser has built in AI ChatGPT capability. In 2024 OpenAI implemented the search feature in ChatGPT which according to their website "it quickly became one of our most-used features" 

ChatGPT Atlas is available only on MacOS. ChatGPT Atlas takes using one browser very seriously. 

Features such as

• Remembering your browser visits from the previous week. Allowing you to use agents to bring your information  back with a simple prompt for example " Find the website I was looking at last week on Christmas wreaths" all in one browser.
• Multitasking can be simplified with simple use of an all in one browser. A machine that thinks for you based on your input or what you are looking for.
• ChatGPT Atlas can also analyze information for you, research and according to OpenAI- automate tasks, book appointments and plan events.

OpenAI ensures that the information that you have in your browser will not be used unless you opt in to it. The information that ChatGPT Atlas uses are browser memories which are private to you and you control how it is used. "Even when browser memories are on, you can decide which sites ChatGPT can or can’t see using the toggle in the address bar. When visibility is off, ChatGPT can’t view the page content, and no memories are created from it"    ( OpenAI, 2025)

The magic is in OpenAI's ChatGPTAgent that launched earlier this year. This agent can open your browser and click on tasks to start researching for what you prompt it to. For example if you are looking for the latest purse, sweatshirt or gift, ChatGPTAgent can find the information for you and perform the task in agent mode. Agent mode is only available in preview for plus, pro & business users.
